All of your listed superfoods are in the traditional Mediterranean diet. Please note that variety is important. The benefits of a healthy diet reflect synergy among the various foods rather than just 5-10 individual components.

Cold-water fatty fish should be on any list of healthy superfoods: trout, salmon, sardines, herring, halibut, swordfish, etc. These fish, at two servings a week, apparently help prevent cardiovascular disease and dementia.

For help with a Mediterranean diet, see Oldways Preservation and Exchange Trust, or here:

Guys..... could it be that most of these fruits, juices, etc., have value? And likely we will continue discovering more over time. A great side benefit to these that should be examined is that many of the beneficials that are being "discovered" grow right here in our own backyard. Which means they are of importance in the attempts to create a more sustainable agriculture, (shipping long distances is not part of that scenario), save on this planets fossil fuel consumption, and create niches for small farms to create value added products. We here in the US have all the listed to choose from, as well as the serviceberry, black cap raspberry and more. I've looked at all these fruits and the truth seems to be that they all can help, and what's wrong with that? And, of course being able to consume things unprocssed will always be the best, but it's not practical for a great many, so frozen or processed becomes the default. In the end, adding some good to your diet, is better than none or very little. And oh yeah, exercise is big time in boosting your overall health, especially "fun" exercise. Go outside and play! (it's cold and frozen today in maine, so I'm go out the back door and going cross country skiing) Live and laugh, it's all too short anyway!

I think what you tried to do is list one food from every category. I don't think you meant to say there are only 8 superfoods, or shortchange cherries, cranberries, and a host of other great for you foods. In my ebook, High Energy Eating, I list over 100 great foods that will keep you thin, healthy and full of energy.

There's a ton of great tasting food that's great for you. I don't want people to think they are limited to just a few that they might not like.

That banana blueberry bread sure would hit the spot about now. That looked really good ;-)
