I consider myself a pretty savvy food shopper. I know enough about healthy eating to choose whole-grain bread rather than white, skim milk instead of whole, oatmeal over sugar-laden cereal. And I read labels as carefully as the next health-conscious gal. But what about foods that have confusing labels—or no labels at all?

“Smart shoppers often get tripped up by seemingly healthy foods that are lacking in vitamins and nutrients or are relatively high in calories or fat,” says Lauren Slayton, RD, founder of Foodtrainers, a nutrition-counseling center in New York City. In an effort to give my weekly haul a nutritional boost, I handed its contents over to the expert. Slayton’s suggested trade-offs took my groceries from just OK to amazingly good-for-me.

Can I ask a question? I am 51, fit, but the fat around my waist won’t go away, and seems to be getting worse. What can you recommend?

I use Certo but I need 1 tablespoon at a time so I have to save the opened packet and that is messy.
Do you have any idea how I can easily do that?
The hardest part is the Certo that escapes after I have my daily amount.
I feel I waste the precious material.
I get it on my fingers and extra escapes.
I stop using it at times because of this problem.
Thank you for a great product.

What is Certo? I am also looking to loose belly fat through exercise and any means necessary

  • Sonia

I also want to know what Certo is? My suggestion for your open packet of Certo is to empty it into a small pill vile like the ones you get from the pharmacist. Or a very small jar.

Received my first Health mag today. Went on line and found these comments. I’m really interested in finding out about Certo. I have been trying to lose belly fat for a long while, have tried many, many things. I am having a lot of back pain, knee pain and I desperately need to lose this weight. Have several health problems, all would benefit. Med’s I take keep metabolism slowed. Exercising limited.
    Please help.

I am trying to lose my belly fat. Lose about 10 or so pounds. I thought it would go down if I worked out. So I worked out and controlled some of my food habits but my weight seems to stay the same. What would you say is the best way to lose weight in the abdomen region?

    • Adele Greene

I’m interested in knowing how to get rid of belly fat that is persistant.
