Can someone help me?
After years of bulemia, binge dieting, etc. I went into therapy - it took many years, but I have been a
normal eater for over twenty years.
I believe that of all the compulsive disorders, food addiction is the worst!
Samantha - Your very first words reveal what may be a big part of your problem - you “feel fat.” You don’t need to lose weight to feel better about yourself - but if you can learn to accept yourself, you’ll find it easier to lose weight. Stop rating yourself based on your weight. You’re fine, just the way you are, and you can be happy just the way you are. But you’ll be healthier and find life easier if you weigh less (maybe…you don’t give a weight.)
Please work on self-acceptance. Many people with eating disorders base their self-image on their weight, and thus can never be “thin enough,” because their self image is never “good enough.”
Ignore your sister - she calls you “fat” because she has problems of her own and it makes her feel better to down you. Don’t down yourself.
Talk to your parents, a counselor at school, a trusted teacher, or someone who can help you get your self-image on track.
