How We Taste Inside Crunch Products

How we taste
Tasting isn’t science, and results represent opinion, but we strive to make it fair. We taste “blind”—most tasters don’t know what the product is before it’s sampled. We rate for crunch, taste, appearance, and appeal. Then the product is unveiled and we consider health claims and nutrition content.

Who tastes
Our panel of judges includes Scott Mowbray, former restaurant critic, food-magazine editor, and now editorial director at Health.com; Frances Largeman-Roth, RD, senior food and nutrition editor at Health magazine; Amy O’Connor, food writer and executive editor at Health.com; and a rotating selection of hungry Health.com staffers.

How to submit a product
If you want us to taste your crunchy, healthy product, it must be available nationally through retail or mail order. Contact Mara Betsch to get details on how to submit.
