Isn't linoleic acid actually an omega-6, not an omega-3?

As someone who is deathly allergic to the fatty fish, any suggestions about a good way to supplement Omega-3s? I use canola oil (source of the 'less effective' 3s named in the article), and eat avocados, when I can get them. I can't have anything to do with fish, or algae. Know of another source?

I can't say enough about how increasing my intake of omega 3s has done for me.

I am not sure if I my IQ has jumped, but 3 months after I began supplementing with Omega 3 fish oils (I use Ascenta Nutra Sea - tastes like lemon, yum) my sore shoulders felt so much better.

My BP, cholesterol, triglycerides were already fine, but at my last check-up, they were even better. Can't say that it was the fish oils as I had also recently added some low dose aspirin.

While I also eat fish once a week, the cost of wild salmon is crazy. Supplementing was a more cost effective method for me to get my 3s.

Word to the wise - look for supplements that have 3rd party purity testing - don't want the mercury.

Info on fish oil testing and how moms that get their omega 3s produce smarter babies - http://healthhabits.wordpress.com/2008/05/29/pregnant-mothers-intake-of-omega-3-key-to-babies-big-brains/
