Eat Red, Live Longer

Nutrition gurus say fruits and veggies with big, bold colors may help you stay young. Which ones are best? Go red and you won’t go wrong.

Red cabbage has deep-red (almost purple) pigments containing 36 plant chemicals that researchers say may be useful for guarding against cancer, boosting brain function, and promoting heart health.

Beet juice has a chemical that your body may convert into a compound capable of expanding blood vessels and lowering blood pressure, according to British scientists. Try mixing it into a smoothie.

Tomatoes have lycopene and beta-carotene, antioxidants that can keep your heart young by lowering your cholesterol.

    (Peppers)are extremely high in vitamins C and A. They are also a source of dietary fiber.

    They are also a great source of Hesperidin, a bioflavonoid and antioxidant. In human nutrition Hesperidin contributes to the integrity of the blood vessels. There is also some research showing that it reduces cholesterol and blood pressure in rats. It also has anti-inflammatory effects.

    So eat your veggies, before you need to take pharmaceuticals derived from the veggies you should have ate in the first place.

    In one of your magazine articles it stated beet juice was good for opening your veins and improving blood flow.Is that fresh raw beets,caned or the juice from the caned ones?What do you mean by juice?Do you have any suggestions of what would go good with the beets in a smoothie.How much would be required every day to do any good.Would I need to take this every day to do any good?

    would like to hear the eating and exercising schedules, from the time they get up in the morning to the time they go to bed at night. what do they feelwhen they exercise to certain music do you feel more uplifted when you eat or exercise at a certain time.do stretches relax you more, I find when I END MY MEALS AT 8:00 dinner time , I FEEL BETTER!!

    How about the juice out of the jar/can the beets come in? I have atheroscleorsis, (hardening of the arteries) and have had two vascular surgeries and also a 5 bypass heart surgery. I have a marvelous vascular surgeon that is my hero but anything I can do on my own would be a huge help. I would like to know more about the chemical in the beet juice and if it truly can help open the vessels, which would be a miracle for me…whould you be so kind as to spread more light on this subject ie would it help repair/open vessels that are clogged with cholestrol?
    since I love beets anyway, I would like to know if eating them would give the same benefit?

    I buy regular canned sliced beets and put about 2 Tbsp. of apple cider vinegar in them. It’s enough to give a spicy tasted without being over tart. Also the vinegar makes the beets part of the pickled veggies we need each day.
