This list is horrible. Chipotle?

I used to eat the veggie burrito all the time, til I found out it had 1,200 calories, and over 30 G of fat. Let's not mention the sodium..3,000?!! I stopped eating there as much as I loved the taste.

And all I got were the veggies. The beans and rice even has tons of fat, the beans in lard. This is the WORST place to go!

My grandparents and their sibs all died in their 50's from eating meat-heavy meals at home (almost never ate out, they couldn't afford to) and never exercising (their idea of exercise was going upstairs to take a nap). Eating with a calorie counter would have kept them alive a bit longer, I think.

In previous centuries, people ate locally and had very few options. In Western Pennsylvania, where I live, local eating would mean storage apples, potatoes, and squash would be about all we could eat in the winter. No coffee, no chocolate, no bananas, no oranges, no lettuce. But all the pork and beef and cheese we could stuff down. Local eating isn't a panacea. Nor is returning to a previous time (10% maternal/neonate mortality rate, no antibiotics, no cardiac treatments).
In addition, corn syrup is no worse for your body than honey, sugar, or maple syrup. It is simply that it is so cheap (produced from government-subsidized corn crops) that the price of sweet foods that use it, notably soda, has dropped. It's cheaper, often, to buy soda than milk, juice or water. But if you drink amounts of milk or juice that equal the calorie count of drinking soda, you will get the same amount of weight gain. But nobody is drinking "Big Gulps" of milk!
MSG has lots of sodium, it's true, so it can be a problem for people who need to watch sodium. But millions of Asians use it daily without problems.
Moderation in all things, including moderation!

No one is telling you what you must eat. They are providing information so you can make educated choices. You apparently are not listening to the education. Enjoying life doesn't need to equate to eating pure fat and salt and sugar that clogs up your arteries and makes you fat. I eat healthy and enjoy life very much. We're not facists, we're healthy.

Thank you for the info, very interesting article.
Tell me another thing. What happened before those fast food restaurants couldn't offer healthy food?

Regarding a comment above. How is salsa (tomatoes, chiles, onions, cilantro, tomatillos) and guacamole (avocado, tomatoes, lemon juice) unhealthy? Some people spend way too much time counting calories, carbs. Eat natural foods as much as possible (fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains), and avoid refined sugar (soda) and don't stress over calories. I never count calories and eat tons of food from places like Chipotle, Sharky's, Rubios during lunch about 3X a week and excercise, stay active most days. I laugh at people who think that I am on a diet, I am just eating the way you should be.
