Stupid comments by the review. This healthy eating plan works!!! I lost all of my excess weight 10 years ago by following the plan and felt better than I've ever felt in my life...looked better too. I got away from the eating plan and gained it back. I just started back on the plan and will never waiver again. I can eat like a horse on the Fit for Life plan and feel great!

IF the reviewers, actually TRIED the plan, they'd have a different review to write. However, since they wrote in ignorance, it is what it is. Dare I say.. Quackery?? The plan works! Follow the principles and you can't go wrong... simple.. fruit or fresh fruit juice until noon... don't eat protein and carbs in the same meal.. 70% of your meal should be live foods. How easy is THAT to remember? No portion control. None of this 'you must eat this or must eat that.' Eat the foods you want... combine properly... don't eat fruit with anything else.. Simple and Effective!! Only problem is... Live foods are EXPENSIVE. Eating this way kills my food budget but oh so worth it for the results!

I get aggravated at some of the 'professional' opinions regarding the Fit for Life plan. Apparently, the whole book was not read by some of these 'experts'. According to Fit for Life diet, fruit is best eaten on an empty stomach for nutritional benefits and absorption; that is why he recommends eating it in the morning (or an hour or more prior to other meals.) Some fruits and juices can be strong and acidic to some people. With the digestive process starting in the mouth with our saliva, the acidity would be lessened, hence the 'chewing' he recommends. (I'm not a doctor, I just remember that from grade school.) Meat and protein IS allowed, preferably in the evening because it takes more energy to digest. Most people don't do a lot in the evening, so energy can be spent on digestion. Cheese, milk and dairy products are allowed, but should be kept whole and pure. Butter is better than oleo...it is pure. Whole milk is better than skim...why take nutrition and milk fat out, just drink it sparingly. White cheese is better than yellow...there is no yellow or orange milk, right? Etc. etc. He is not a fan of a lot of dairy products, but they are allowed. This plan is just plain common sense! It is simple, it is good, and it works. There are no extra expenses, if anything it is cheaper overall. How can avoiding pre-packaged frozen or canned food be bad for you? How can eating more fruits and vegetables be bad for you? This program can be as extreme as you want. I never eat tofu, but I do enjoy this eating plan. When I was on it before, I gave up coffee (on my own), didn't want candy, and was quite content with less salt and sweets and artificially flavored snacks. Unfortunately, my husband was a meat and potatoes at every meal man, and liked his food fried, and lots of it. Our waistlines and age have both grown, so he is more open minded now. I have not been on it for a while, but I think we will start tomorrow. We will have juice and a fruit salad for breakfast, I will have an avocado, lettuce and tomato sandwich on whole wheat, and my husband will have a few corn chips. Then for dinner, we will have a steak on the grill, some asparagus and a salad. I don't see where that is wrong, or unhealthy. You 'experts' should try it!

Gosh my mouth dropped open.

Lead writer: Maureen Callahan, M.S., R.D.

I cannot believe a person has the guts to write so much unreasearched delusions about a lifestyle that works so well.

I read book 2 Living health and I found extensive reasearch to back all of Harveys claims. Had she red the " ton of rhetoric " she would have found all the proof she claims is not present.

I put it to the test and I found all the most incredible claims to be true. My wife didn't have any pms or pmt after she got onto the plan. Both our weights found its healthy spot and stabilized their. My physical strength more than doubled.

Our two sons were born clean without a spot of mucous on them. We never get sick and neither do our children.

Are we Shure Maureen does not work for a company caled "Sick for profit" or something?

I'm 24yrs old, 5'9, and 130lbs. I used to model back in the day. I booked a huge job in Miami Beach and had to get in shape quickly. The photographer sent me a copy of this book. He said he always gets the models to go on this diet before he shoots with them. Within two weeks my body had completely. changed. This works! I didn't care about the scale but my tight jeans were much looser in no time. This diet has changed my life and made my body the size it's suppose to be. And I can eat BREAD!! :)

I'm feeling rather envious of all you people who took off so much weight with FFL. I didn't - but Diamond says they have a failure rate of about 10%, almost always those who have had their appendix out (that's me)or hysterectomies. However, my skin got much better, my sinuses too (even though I didn't ever eat much dairy), my vitality improved and I went through monopause without even noticing it. Not bad.

In addition to the two books by the Diamonds together that presented FFL, Marilyn Diamond alone wrote "The American Vegetarian Cookbook from the FFL Kitchen", an indispensable support when following this way of eating. Lots of wonderful recipes and background information, superbly presented. It was first published in 1990.

I don't care if the science behind Fit For Life came to Harvey in a dream. I don't care if oracles from outer space dropped in and gave it to him. It works. Like others here, when I was in my twenties I lost about 40 pounds on that diet plan and never felt better in my life despite lots of bad lifestyle habits at the time. I remained on that diet for two years, then abandoned it when I married someone who ate the way I used to eat. It was very easy to follow the diet as a single person, but a bit tougher as a married person with weak willpower. Needless to say, the weight creeped back on, and at age 48 I found myself 50 pounds overweight and felt absolutely horrible. I have tried all of the other diets out there with no success, so I am back on Fit For Life again and losing weight and feeling better. With all of the international cuisine at our disposal today it is much easier to eat healthfully. I encourage anyone to give it a try. Who cares if the science behind it is quackery? The diet isn't dangerous and would be a dramatic improvement over the current SAD (Standard American Diet.) BTW, nowhere in "Fit For Life" does the suggestion to "chew juice" appear.
