Researchers Connect Eggs and Weight Loss

After years of being barred from the average American diet, things are looking sunny-side up for eggs. According to a study from Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, overweight women who eat egg breakfasts lose twice as much weight as women who start their days with bagels. Researchers say the protein in eggs increases satiety and decreases hunger, helping women eat fewer calories throughout the day. “Eggs are a perfect protein source because they have all eight essential amino acids,” says Dave Grotto, RD, author of 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life. “And recent research debunks the idea that they have adverse effects on the heart.”

I do believe that eggs in the morning for breakfast do keep hunger at bay. Because when I eat them for breakfast I do not get hungery until about 3pm . I only use one egg yolk and 4 egg whites.

Use Egg Beaters or another egg substitute. They are fine for scrambled eggs and omelets.

Does egg yolk increases cholesterol level?

I have chickens and plenty of fresh eggs year round. I have been eating a boiled egg 5 days a week for 3 or 4 years. My doctor says my cholesterol level way good but I also get plenty of exercise. Protein rich eggs prepared in a low fat way are an excellent way to start your day.

Even if you have high cholestrol, you can still eat egg white. You should keep your consumption of egg yolk low, however.

Dietary cholesterol doesn’t affect blood cholesterol as much as saturated fat; so if you have high cholesterol you’re better off watching your saturated fat intake. If you keep your cholesterol level within the RDA (under 300 mg) on AVERAGE each week then you should be fine. That means if you eat two eggs one day you’re already over 300 mg cholesterol; but if you consume less cholesterol the next day it averages out fine. One of the best ways to lower cholesterol is to eat a diet high in soluble fiber; oats are the best source with some berries and legumes having notable amounts.

I do agree that eggs are very good for you. I eat two boiled eggs every morning. I remember when I was a teenager I used to consume 5 to 6 eggs every morning. I have never had any problems with my weight.

I love eggs and eat one every morning. I will have a slice of bread and a Turkey ham slice or turkey balony with a spray of cal free cooking oil for cooking the meat and egg.

eggs rule I agree. The fruit juice, bagels and toast and pancakes and cereal are what do us in, the obesity is what keeps us sick and contributes to the heart disease and diabetes.

I need some answers. I had hormone testing performed and found that my pitutary gland produces excess lutein which contributes to my high cholesterol. I researched the websites and found lutein is considered to be very healthy to the body. What is the connection between lutein and high cholesterol? Additionally, I was informed that my pitutary gland produces excess testerone causing PCOS. I understand the PCOS but I don’t understand the lutein and high cholesterol connection.

Eggs are good food. It’s the processed food that makes us all unhealthy. Think about this, when most of us ate real food, few of us had weight problems and we were all basically healthy. Along comes processed food and dieticians telling us what to eatand what not to eat. Now we have weight problems, cancer, diabetes and heart disease in a majority of the population. Its not rocket science, use your head

Eggs are miracle food ! For years doctors scared off people from eating eggs by saying eggs raise cholestrol level in the blood. Now, it has been proven that this is not the case. Eggs don’t increase cholesterol. Instead, they reduce cholesterol which is just the opposite. Eggs give you complete nutrition, fills you for several hours and above all, boosts your metabolism when eaten in breakfast. I have personally experienced loss of about 23 kg in weight since I have been having 2 eggs in breakfast every day and have dropped 4 sizes in my jeans. I now weigh 75 kg and have a waist of 31 inch. Before I discovered eggs and breakfast trick, I used to weigh 105 kg and wear size 38 jeans.
